Privacy Policy — Paperkin

1. Who we are

Paperkin is operated by Kirill Fraidine in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. We are the data controller for personal information processed through the Service. Contact: kirill@kfraidine.org.

2. Information we collect

Account information

When you sign up, we collect your email address, display name, and authentication identifier from your chosen provider (Google or email/password). We do not see or store your password.

Generation inputs

We process the prompts and parameters you submit to generate coloring pages, including any child name you choose to embed on pages. We do not knowingly collect information directly from children. Names you enter are treated as content you submitted as a parent or guardian.

Uploaded photos

When you use the Photo to Coloring feature, your uploaded photo is processed transiently to produce a coloring page. We do not retain the original photo after processing.

Payment information

Payment processing is handled entirely by Stripe. We receive tokenized customer identifiers and transaction metadata. We never see or store your full card number, CVV, or billing PIN.

Usage data

We log aggregate request metadata (timestamps, generation type, error codes) and basic device information (IP address, user agent) for security, abuse prevention, and service operation.

3. How we use your information

To deliver, secure, and operate the Service.
To process payments and maintain credit balances.
To respond to support requests and enforce these Terms.
To improve generation quality, in aggregate and de-identified form.
To comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your generation inputs or uploaded photos to train third-party AI models without explicit consent.

4. Third-party processors

We share data with the following service providers strictly to operate the Service:

Google Firebase — authentication and database (Firestore).
Google Cloud Platform — application hosting (Cloud Run, Cloud Storage).
Google Gemini API — image generation. Inputs are sent to Google's Gemini service subject to Google's data-processing terms.
Stripe — payment processing.

Each processor is bound by its own privacy commitments and data processing agreements with us.

5. Data retention

Account data is retained while your account is active and for up to 90 days after deletion to handle disputes and legal obligations. Generation history is retained while your account is active. Uploaded photos are not retained after processing. Anonymized usage logs may be retained longer for analytics.

6. Your rights

Depending on your jurisdiction (including under PIPEDA in Canada, GDPR in the EU/UK, and CCPA in California), you have the right to:

Access the personal information we hold about you.
Request correction of inaccurate data.
Request deletion of your account and associated data.
Object to or restrict certain processing.
Receive a copy of your data in a portable format.

7. Children's privacy

Paperkin is designed to be used by adults to create content for children. The Service is not directed to children under 13, and children should not create their own accounts. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will remove it.

8. Security

We use industry-standard encryption (HTTPS in transit, encryption at rest via Google Cloud) and access controls. No system is perfectly secure; we will notify affected users of any data breach involving personal information as required by applicable law.

9. International transfers

Paperkin is operated from Canada. Data may be processed in the United States and other countries where our infrastructure providers operate. We rely on standard contractual clauses and equivalent safeguards where required.

10. Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy. Material changes will be posted with an updated “Last updated” date. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance.
